FIVE THINGS SEATTLEITES SAY

Seattleites aren’t afraid!

Top 5 Things Seattleites Say That Only Makes Sense to Us

Seattleites aren’t afraid to speak their minds. In fact, they’re renowned for creating gutsy music, cheering louder than every other sports fan in the country, and protesting in unity against causes large and small. Sadly, if you aren’t from this part of the world, you’ll have a tough time comprehending some of the things that we say.

We’re breaking down the top five things that Seattleites say and what it means for the rest of the world.

“I Don’t Mind the Rain”

Any human in the right state of mind despises water falling from the sky. But not us folks from Seattle! Most of us don’t even own umbrellas. But you can bet your bottom dollar that we all have a North Face rain jacket handy. This is an inside joke as everyone from Seattle seems to own at least one.

“Fill Me Up with Leaded”

It’s no secret that Seattleites love their coffee. I mean, Starbucks has its headquarters here! Working out of coffee shops is as natural to us as getting stuck in traffic is to New Yorkers. The coffee in Seattle will simply blow your mind. We’ve got tons of variations and minor nuances. So, if you want plain and simple coffee, just say “fill me up with leaded” and the barista will get to work at once.

Riding the SLUT

While this may not be the most appropriate answer to your colleagues enquiring about your weekend whereabouts in most parts of the world, here in Seattle it’s perfectly harmless. The South Lake Union Trolley is a streetcar that runs through specific parts of the city, including the business sector. So, if you’re new to Seattle and have to travel to work, chances are you’ll ride the SLUT every day!

SoDo

Short for South Downtown, the business district of Seattle. The area is a short distance from the popular Pike Place Market and is home to the city’s sports stadiums. Although SoDo might be an emerging industrial hub, it has several restaurants, pubs, and other attractions in the vicinity. If you’re looking to spend an eventful day in SoDo, take a stroll down to 1st Avenue and visit Fox in a Box Escape Room.

Pill Hill

Tech companies might be the primary employers in Seattle, but the medical industry isn’t far behind. With hospitals lining the streets of First Hill, the place is commonly referred to as Pill Hill by the locals. The more you know!

Three Great Reasons to Visit Seattle

You don’t need a reason to visit Seattle if I’m being honest! But, if you’re looking for motivation, here’s some.

Good Food

Seattle has some of the best seafood on the west coast. From oysters and tuna to lobster and salmon, you name it, we have it!

Great Weather

While Seattle might be cloudy, it isn’t that rainy! In fact, the city experiences lesser rainfall than New York and Chicago. Surprised? Here are eight things you didn’t know about Seattle

Tons of Activities

Seattle has several museums, art galleries, and places of historic significance. Take the Space Needle and Pike Place Market for instance. For a unique experience, visit Fox in a Box Escape Room.
